Why and How I went 3 days with no solids - Karmic Juice Cleanse

Well, here we are Melbourne. Another lockdown is upon us and what better time to reset the body and mind?


Being out of restrictions I have enjoyed a few too many cocktails, brunches and pizza. I devoured and visited all my favourites restaurants and bars over the last few months and didn’t stop.


So, I thought there is no better time than to cut solids than during a lockdown when I have no plans for a week! For the next 3 days I would be drinking only liquids. And for those who know me, I love food and cooking. It’s no secret! But how I feel is even more important to me and finding a balance.

WHY?

I have found that I have not been sleeping well (I am only getting 2-3hours a night), my eyes are tired and dry, I am living off coffee and I feel bloated all the time!

I was hoping this cleanse would clear my system of anything with my body that was causing these issues and start fresh. The release and cleanse of internal toxins would help me achieve my goals on the outside too! I knew there would also have a few side effects including caffeine withdrawals (yes I’m addicted to the taste) which would lead to headaches.


With a huge project due for work I really needed to be in the best frame of mind. I need to be alert and be able to communicate with other staff members to ensure the project is due on time. I was so ready for this cleanse in my life!


The other reason I chose the Karmic Juice Cleanse is because it is all prepared and delivered straight to my door. No need to purchase huge amounts of fruits and vegetables to create the juices necessary. Its no fuss, no mess, delicious and nutritious. What else could you want?!

I selected the delivery date and it arrived all packaged neatly and ready for the fridge!


The Organic Gut Cleanse is designed especially for those suffering digestive discomfort and bloating. THIS IS ME! I selected the 3-day cleanse. For beginners there is 2 days and for expert cleansers you can go up to 7 days. With options of 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 days there is something for everyone’s experience level.

I had no plans, recently had moved out of home and the pantry was stocked with healthy food for my partner to eat while I cleansed.


ORGANIC GUT CLEANSE

A normal day on the cleanse is made up of 7 juices and 1 soup. The Organic Gut-Health Cleanse came with a simple plan and directions. It recommends 1 juice approximately every 90 minutes to keep your energy levels stable and maximum nutrient absorption.

It recommended a few of them that could be served warm which was great because living down in the peninsula is freezing and I needed some warm drinks to keep me going if I couldn’t have coffee.


The cleanse arrived with a ‘guide to Cleansing’. I learnt that the natural detox I was about to embark on was going to help me cleanse the body naturally, reduce toxicity level, support my digestive system, reduce my sugar and coffee craving, enhance my immune system for winter and rejuvenate at a cellular level. YESSSSS PLEASE!


The guide was helpful on how to treat the next 3 days and what to focus on including what side affects you might feel and how to tackle them.


This was not a weight loss journey for me. It was deeper than that. I wanted to feel better, have more energy again and release all the toxins in my body.


I love that each bottle had written what it was working on!


The cleanse comes with a variety of juices. From a morning zing to fire up your metabolism, to berry to assist with gut health and leafy green juices to add those necessary vegetables into your body while providing antioxidants and iron.


My results on the juice cleanse

Day one – I took a before photo and I wrote down my cleanse intention and my goal for the next 2 weeks within the provided booklet. There is also a little chart to document before and after body weight, circumference and how you are feeling including energy, mental clarity, anxiety levels, sleep and skin quality. These were all a huge focus for me over the next 3 days, writing down and scoring them to see how I would feel in 72 hours’ time was exciting.

I drank my juices at 8am,10am,12pm, 2pm, 3pm, 4pm,6, 8 and 10pm. no headaches which was amazing and didn’t feel hungry. I was super busy cleaning and unpacking to think about food. I went to bed at 11pm to avoid any headaches and give my body time to digest my last juice.


Day two – woke up with a headache but nothing that wasn’t manageable. After 2 juices I was back on track and not feeling hungry. In the afternoon I did start to feel the toxins releasing having a little bit of a stomach ache. a 30min lie down and I was feeling much better! My stomach felt less bloated already! It was an amazing feeling in just over 24 hours. Stuck to my times to drink the juices.


Day three – Followed my cleanse times to keep track. I was more energetic which was a weird feeling because I hadn’t digested any solids for the last 72 hours. My skin didn’t break out this time during my period which is a huge deal for me and my mood was more alert and falling asleep was super easy.


You’re probably wondering was I hungry?

Simple answer, NO. Each time I would come close to feeling hungry it would be time for another juice and either some water or tea. They were delicious which definitely helped. I would have definitely craved food if the juices did not taste nice but there was only one I struggled with and I thought that was pretty good!


Every cleanse will be a completely unique and individual experience – the body will do what it needs to do at that moment in order to restore balance and essential life energy.


WEIGH IN:

Day four - Lost 3 kilos (2.5 after eating and a latte) and gained a whole lot of energy, clear and glowing skin (I don't look as tired woooo) and a new routine. I can't believe how bloated I was! I’m back to feeling my best and ready to cook healthy delicious balanced meals. ALL IN 3 DAYS! You can really see the changes in my stomach and my skin. The before and after photos definitely helped me realise how much had changed, especially my skin.

Tips to get you through

  • Go to sleep early

  • Remove all temptations

  • Stock up on healthy foods for post cleanse

  • Go in with a positive mind and write your goals

Would I do it again?

Hell yeah! I feel lighter, more energetic, my skin is great and can’t wait to try out some new delicious healthy recipes to keep me on track. This is a great cleanse for an event or to get back on track. After cleansing is a great time to set new habits and eating behaviours. I have done a big healthy shop and only stocked the pantry and fridge with healthy options. If it's not in the house I can't eat it!
